Lessons

Meadow Wood Stables offers certified and qualified coaching. We offer private and semi private lessons with the primary focus on the center of balance in English riding (dressage, jumper and cross country). Students are given the opportunity to learn about horse behaviour, safety, grooming, tack (tacking up and tack care) and caring for their horse. We will also work with the horse on the ground and in the saddle.

MEET OUR LESSON HORSES

Felix  - Born in 2010, Shetland Pony Cross Gelding 12hh.

Felix is a very social pony and loves being groomed. He prefers to work at a slower pace which is perfect for beginners. During a lesson riders, parents, and guardians are frequently entertained when Felix attempts to knock over and even stand on top of the pylons. This is his way of telling me to move on to the next part of the lesson. With a more experienced rider Felix steps up the pace, he loves trotting poles and jumping small fences.  His favorite treats are bananas, apples and peppermints (all types of horsey treats).

Mia - Born in 2007, Appaloosa Pony Mare 14hh.

Mia is a very curious pony with an expressive personality. She is gentle and patient with her beginner riders. With more experienced riders Mia loves cantering a course of fences. She is a rescue pony that came to us in 2014. It is amazing to watch as she continues to grow in confidence and trust.  Mia loves her treats after each lesson. Her favorite treat is a banana. Mia loves gentle hugs too. I love this pony!!

Lottiedah - Born in 2001, Thoroughbred Mare 16.1hh.

Lottie is very athletic and has a very competitive personality. She loves eventing, especially cross country. Lottie placed 2nd in the 2015 OHTA senior pre training division, and 1st place in the 2016 OHTA junior pre entry division. Her favorite treat is an apple and she definitely does not like bananas.

Minuet - Born in 2001, Hanoverian Mare 16hh.

Minnie placed 3rd in the 2015 OHTA senior pre entry division. She is presently working level 1 dressage. Minnie is a very gentle mare that loves to challenge her rider and performs beautifully when given the correct riding aids. Minnie is occasionally offered in the lesson program. Her favourite treat is carrots.
